Stan Lee, born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922, in New York City, was a pivotal figure in the history of comic books. He is best known as the co-creator of numerous iconic Marvel Comics characters, including Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, and the Fantastic Four.
Lee began working at Timely Comics (later Marvel Comics) in 1939. He often collaborated with artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko.
Beyond creating characters, Lee served as Marvel's editor-in-chief, art director, and head writer for many years. His energetic writing style, characterized by witty dialogue and compelling narratives, helped to shape the voice of Marvel Comics.
In his later years, Lee became a beloved public figure, making cameo appearances in nearly every Marvel Cinematic Universe film. He served as an ambassador for Marvel and comic books in general, inspiring generations of readers and creators alike. Stan Lee died on November 12, 2018, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in popular culture.
